Major/Minor Requirements
To receive a degree from UNC, you are required to complete a minimum of nine (9) upper division UNC credits (300-400 level) in that major. To receive a minor, you are required to complete a minimum of six (6) upper division UNC credits (300-400 level) in that minor. You must meet all requirements and pass all courses required by the school/college or department from which you select a major or a minor. See the UNC Catalog for more information.
Information about Minor/Major Changes
• The catalog used for student requirements is the catalog that is in effect at the time the major is declared.
• A change of major will effect a change of catalog to the current catalog.
• A change of major emphasis is considered to be a major change (and will therefore move the student to the current catalog).
• Minors, additional majors, licensures and endorsements will follow the major catalog.
• Core requirements (Liberal Arts Core/General Education) are determined by when the student is admitted to a degree-seeking program at UNC; individual core requirement information can be found on a student's degree evaluation.
• Major or minor changes are declared in the office of that specific major or minor.
• Licensure and endorsement changes are made in the School of Teacher Education.
• Minors may be declared only if a degree-seeking major has been declared.
