General Commencement Information

  • Doors will open one hour before the ceremony.
  • Seating is available on a first-come basis.
  • The ceremony will be approximately two hours.
  • Tickets are NOT required for admission.

Cap and Gown Ordering

University of Northern Colorado's regalia is specially made for UNC and to only be worn by UNC students. Regalia must be ordered through the company listed below. Students who have applied to graduate will receive a post card with cap and gown ordering information. Cap and gowns may be ordered during the graduation fair at the University Center on the first floor in front of Barnes and Noble. Please see your specific graduation term for details of dates and times. If you need to order after the graduation fair, please visit www.herffjones.com/college/graduation to order your regalia and announcements on line. Specific questions about orders may be addressed to the vendor, Unique Recognition, at 970-663-2668.

Photographer

The University has contracted with GradTrak® Graduation Images to take a variety of pictures of each graduate during the ceremony. You have no obligation to use this service.

  • You will receive a free passport-sized digital proof of this photo on an order card within 5-7 days following the ceremony.
  • After the ceremony, you may order online at www.gradimages.com or call 1-800-261-2576.

Accessible Seating

Accessible seating for people with disabilities and the elderly will be available at the ceremony on a first-come basis. In order to accommodate as many as possible, the seating is reserved for the qualifying individual plus one other person.

Disability Support Services

If you have any concerns regarding disability access for this event please contact Disability Support Services at 970-351-2289 at least two weeks prior to the ceremony for any special request.

Parking for Guests

Parking is available in any of the numerous lots on west campus - refer our website at http://www.unco.edu/regrec/pdf/commencement_map.pdf. Entrances to the parking lots are located at the corner of 14th Avenue and 20th Street and at 11th Avenue and 22nd Street.

Summer 2010

All summer graduates who would like to walk in a ceremony are asked to participate in the Spring 2010 Commencement Ceremony on May 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.

There is no Summer Commencement Ceremony.

Diplomas for Undergraduate Students

  • Diplomas may be picked up beginning August 30, 2010 in the Registrar’s Office, Carter Hall 3002.
  • Diplomas are not mailed unless you submit a request indicating to the Registrar’s Office the address to where your diploma is to be sent. 
    Diploma requests may be submitted by:
    • An email to: stacy.sharp@unco.edu or
    • a call to the Registrar’s Office at (970) 351-2231 (select option #3) or
    • a written request to Registrar’s Office, Carter Hall 3002, Greeley, CO 80639.

Transcripts

  • Cost for a transcript is $10.00 each.
  • Transcripts with degree information may be issued after August 30, 2010.
    • On-line from the Registrar’s website or
    • Fax a request to (970) 351-1870 or
    • Mail a written request with payment to: Registrar’s Office, UNC Campus Box 50, Greeley, CO 80639.

Fall 2010 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony
Saturday, December 11, 2010

Graduation Deadlines

  • An application for graduation must be received by October 11, 2010 to have your name printed in the program.
  • Course adjustment memos are due by November 12, 2010.
  • Test Scores, Portfolios, and Visual Art Recitals are due by December 10, 2010
  • Official transcripts from other institutions and all grades including those for final semester, incompletes and extended study courses are due by
    December 15, 2010.

Ceremony

The Fall 2010 Commencement ceremony will take place on Saturday, December 11th, 2010. There will be two ceremonies, one at 9:00 a.m. and one at 2:00 p.m., both in Butler-Hancock Gymnasium. The college of the graduating student's major determines which ceremony the student will walk in.

Candidates with the school of EBS, HSS, and UC graduating at 9:00 a.m. will assemble at 8:15 a.m. in the large gymnasium of the Student Recreation Center
Candidates with the school of MCB, NHS, and PVA graduating at 2:00 p.m. will assemble at 1:15 p.m. in the large gymnasium of the Student Recreation Center.
Enter the Recreation Center by the north entrance, the large gymnasium is on the southeast corner of the building.
Please make arrangements to leave your personal items with family or friends
as a safety precaution.

 

Graduation Fair

Your years of hard work are almost over and its time to celebrate! Get everything you need for graduation at the Graduation Fair on October 11th and 12th from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the University Center in front of Barnes and Noble. At the fair, you can

  • Order your cap and gown.
  • Have your picture taken in full regalia.
  • Order your announcements.
  • Plan your graduation party with the help of catering services.
  • Meet with representatives from the Alumni Association, Career Services and the Graduate School.
  • Meet with the Visitors Bureau to get help with guests coming to town or to get great ideas for graduation parties.
  • Drop you name in the bowl for a free drawing for attendees.

Cap and Gown Ordering

If you're planning on participating in the commencement ceremony, it is your responsibility to rent a cap and gown. This can be done either:

  • In person on October 11th and 12th at the University Center from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Online - Now through October 29th at www.herffjones.com/college/graduation
  • By phone - Unique Recognition at 970-663-2668.
